No permit was approved for the modification of the existing dining enclosure, and the replacement structure does not have a permit on file.

2022 05 31 - I received notification from Manual Salgado in regards to an unpermitted sidewalk dining enclosure at this location. Research showed Permit PWRW45010 was issued in 2018 for Shannon's On Pine for 264 sqft railing enclosed sidewalk dining.

2022 06 01 - Received email from Stephanie Gonzalez, Placemaking Manager Downtown Long Beach Alliance of business. She was concerned "regarding a new patio that was set up in front of The Carvery restaurant on Pine and Broadway. The way the sidewalk curves in that area in combination with the tree well and other infrastructure it creates a choke point for pedestrians, especially when there are folks waiting to get into Shannon’s. I’m not sure if this is a permanent patio being set up but wanted to share our concerns."

Upon investigation, the permitted sidewalk dining enclosure had been removed, and a permanent structure was being installed. Utilities had been installed (gas & electrical) in the structure. A verbal stop work notice was issued to both the on site manager and the contractor. They were advised that the structure was unpermitted, and violated several rules of the LBMC as well as the Sidewalk Dining & Parklet hand book and it would need to be removed in 1 weeks time. I advised that if it was not removed, or if I saw construction instead of demo, I would issue a NNC with an immediate citation.
